Paradoxically

This one gets credit for making sense, for the most part, but the word use is to wonderful not to share:

These days of austerity and relative anxiety about getting debt, many people balk about the idea of having a credit card in order to make purchase of merchandise as well as pay for any gift giving occasion, preferring, instead just to rely on this tried and trusted means of making settlement - raw cash.
